Surrounded by green, set between the gardens of the neoclassical Villa Melzi and the Romanesque Church of St. Mary Silvio’s is the ideal place for a romantic dinner or a quality meal with Family of Friends.
Both from the elegant porch and from the outdoor pergola under the vines, treat yourself with stunning views over the Lake and the surrounding mountains. Since 1919, year of its foundation, Silvio’s is the place for local fresh Lake fish and has always stuck to a simple display of the fruits of Lake Como waters.

Freshness and traceability of the catch are granted by Silvio and his son Cristian daily, as they both are professional fishermen.

Our cuisine, simple but refined highlights traditional local plates and products, yet trying itself out with new recipes, mostly based on the freshest fish. We boasts anyway a fine offer as an alternative for those who don’t particularly like fish or for special food allergies (please let us know it in advance if you can, so that to satisfy your needs at best!).

One of the aims of the Ponzini Family, running the place for five generations, is protecting and spreading the knowledge for Lake fish and local cuisine.

At this purpose, we frequently organize theme dinner, with cooking demonstrations and tasting menus. We are also proud to show you our kitchen, meet the Chef, let you in our fish laboratory and even follow our to set in or collect their nets from the water.

Silvio’s has been owned and operated by the same Ponzini family for almost a century, when in 1919 Bisnonno Silvio, (our great grand-father, always named Silvio as his great grandson), started the small Albergo & Osteria.
That was nothing but a big fireplace, 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom.The passion of hosting people has been handed down through five generations till nowadays.

Both the hotel and the restaurant are currently runned by Cristian (Silvio’s son), with the same enthusiasm.

Over the past three years, at Silvio’s both the hotel and the restaurant have been completely refurbished, as well as most of rooms, adding a modern touch but retaining the period charm of the property.

We boast a selection of family, double, twin and triple rooms, of which most of them has great views over the Lake and the surrounding mountains, the neo-classical Villa Melzi with its garden or the beautiful romanesque church of St.Mary.

In the interests of the comfort of all of our guests we operate a fully non-smoking environment.

The Beach at Lido

The beach is a few hundred meters from the hotel and apartments.
The Hotel Silvio is one of the few hotels on Lake Como to have a private beach.
The beach of Lido di Bellagio is a wonderful place to spend hours of pure relaxation, sand, sea, lake, in a breathtaking setting.
From the beach you have access to a swimming area between the village of Bellagio and Villa Melzi.
The beach has a Beach Bar to enjoy spirits and non-alcoholic cocktails, make a catering service, sandwich, sandwiches, hot and cold, with a wide selection of grilled dishes.

Our products
Together with seafood and fish we pay extreme attention to the preparation of bread, pasta, cakes and ice cream, all hand- and homemade.

Rice and Fish fillet
One of Lariana’s traditional dishes: boiled rice (“in cagnòn” as the locals term it) is served with either gilded fillets of Perch fish or lavarello according to what has been fished. Everything is then flavoured with the additional seasoning of parmesan cheese, lemon juice, butter and sage.

Ultan and pendent
This two words literally refer to two types of nets, and in particular one for the lavarets and the ray-finned fish. This is what we propose, but obviously we can’t foresee what we will be able to fish tomorrow! That’s why our dishes based on fish can vary according to what has been fished and the Chefs imagination.

Fish Ravioloni
Home made fresh Ravioli, filled with a delicate fish mousse, according to what has been fished, simply offered with the addition of butter from Bellagio Dairy and crisp sage.

Toc and Missoltini
Another safeguarded dish of the traditional Lariana-Bellagina cuisine. Toc, is a polenta prepared on our fireplace, amalgamated with butter and the thin cheese from the local dairy, to form a soft cream that is lukewarm to touch, even if it cooks on the fire for more than two hours. The Missoltini, made with ray-finned fish, from our direct fishing as always, is left to desiccate in the sun as the tradition requests and is pressed for at least six months. It is then grilled and served with some delicious and flavoured drops of oil and home-made vinegar on the top.

Miascia
Traditionally a simple and humble dessert made with white and yellow flour (the same used to make Toc and still grown and grinded in Bellagio), bread, grapes, apples, figs and walnuts.

Fishing on Lake

Fishing is one of our most important activities here at Silvio’s.
It is not only essential to our cuisine, but we also care about spreading it’s culture and knowledge.

At this purpose we offer our Guests the opportunity of following our fishermen both while they set their nets in the water (in the afternoon) and when collecting them from the Lake at night.

It is not only a recreational activity but represents the proof of both the origin and the freshness of the catch. In this way, it’s you, our Guest, to experience personally the efforts needed to grant the catch on your table.

Bellagio is one of the most well known towns on the Como Lake, which has always been loved by artists and writers from all over the world.

Thanks to its enchanting atmosphere, it has been selected as film settings by famous directors such as Luchino Visconti and Sergio Leone.

Also known as “The pearl of the Como Lake“, Bellagio stands in a very amazing position, just on the top of the cape that divides the lake into two branches.
And from that spectacular position you can enjoy an astonishing panorama: on one side the deep blue of the lake and its coasts and from the other side the green of the promontory.

A romantic and relaxing stroll is perfect to feel the atmosphere of the village, with its old houses, alleys, and high standard shops and restaurants.

Bellagio is also famous for its splendid villas: it would be a shame not to visit the neoclassic Villa Melzi and its gardens or Villa Serbelloni with its marvelous park.
Among the churches to appreciate is the Basilica of St. Giacomo, built in the XII century and embellished by frescos and sculptures.
For those who love the lake they can enjoy some splendid sightseeings on a boat trip, or visit the Museum of Navigation Tools, devoted to precious objects used in past epochs for sailing.
